According to Tony Azito, Gregory Hines was originally cast as the Sergeant of Police, but pulled out to replace Richard Pryor in History of the World: Part I (1981). G. Eugene Moose, seen here as "Samuel", was actually the understudy; the regular performer was 'Stephen Hanan' .
