Wil was born as the son of a German civil engineer in 1966. At the age of 22 he joined the Military Navy where he spent 2 years travelling to countries such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, France, UK, Spain and Portugal. After his Military Service Wil moved to Orlando, USA, where he worked for Walt Disney World. At the age of 25 Wil moved to London where he studied drama at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
