Stephen Mendel began singing at age 8. Schooled in Montreal, he graduated Bishop's U. with a BA in drama and began working almost immediately in theater. Film and TV roles followed quickly. He moved to Los Angeles, and shortly was cast in the CBS series "Night Heat" (1985), filmed in Toronto, Canada, spending five seasons on the show as Det. Fred Carson.
