Mini Biography
Ron began his career as a boy soprano soloist for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. After a childhood filled with classical music training as a violinist, pianist and conductor (at the age of fourteen, Ron conducted the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra), he made the transition to television. From directing the original Ginsu knife commercial to the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies, for which he won an Emmy for "Outstanding Directing For A Music/Variety Program", Ron's long career in television as a Director has been filled with historical, comical and illustrious credits.
Ron is perhaps best known for having directed over 5,000 shows for the grounding-breaking entertainment news show "Entertainment Tonight" (nominated for an Emmy for "Outstanding Individual Achievement, Directing". Though he left "ET" as the director in 1997, he continued as a creative consultant for overall production.
His extensive resume includes concert specials: "Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival" (nominated for a Director's Guild Award for "Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety"), "Woodstock 99" (served as Producer and Director), "Come Together, John Lennon Tribute" "One Love, Bob Marley Tribute", "Fashion Rocks", "Essence Music Festival" and "Concert for America".
Television Concerts include Celine Dion, Marc Anthony, The Who, The Judds, Jewel, Lyle Lovett and the Bay City Rollers.
Award Shows and Live Events Ron has directed include "Survivor: The Amazon Finale", "Miss Universe", "Screen Actors Guild Awards", "Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade" (twice nominated for an Emmy for "Outstanding Individual Achievement, Directing"), "Radio Music Awards", Academy Awards: Countdown to the Oscars", "Prime Time Creative Arts Emmy Awards", The Hispanic Heritage Awards (served as Executive Producer and Director), "Countdown to the Emmys", "TV Guide Awards", " CableACE Awards", ABC's "Who's Line Is It Anyway?", "Soul Train" (twice nominated for an Emmy for "Outstanding Special-Class Directing") and "Soul Train Music Awards".
He began his Television career as staff Director/Producer for KGGM Albuquerque, WCPO Cincinnati, WBZ Boston, WNAC Boston, KNBC Los Angeles and the NBC Network.
