Mini Biography
Peter Zhmutski was born in the former USSR, in the present country of Kazakstan. Zhmutski has been involved with theatre and national television shows since he was little. His first significant film experience was in 1996, when he received a speaking role in the internationally known film Fara (1999), directed by one of the Kazakstan's greatest directors Abai Karpykov. Subsequently, Zhmutski became friends with the director who took him under his wing for several years. "I watched Abai on the set directing. I saw all this equipment, hundreds of cast and crew members. I decided, I wanted to be a film director and a professional actor" Zhmutski said.
In 1998, Zhmutski came to United States of America, the land of opportunity, to make great films and impact others. Zhmutski's film experience grew as he made his own independent films and videos, composed music, and visited various film festivals, workshops, and seminars. Peter made valuable industry contacts, networking and perfecting shameless self promotion. Finally, after three award winning short films on his record (Keep It on Da Low (2002), Fighter's Story, The Story of your life) he wrote, produced, directed and acted in his first feature film Forever Brothers (2003) (V) in 2003. The production ofthe motion picture lasted a whole year. Forever Brothers became one of the largest independent films made for under 5 million dollars in the Midwest, with over 500 cast and crew involved. At Script 2 Screen in 2003, it made its world premiere and received the Bonehead Award. It received wide international press and internet coverage from 8 countries, including USA, Russia, Germany, and England.
In addition to Forever Brothers, Zhmutski has directed and produced five films, acted in 17 films and was a regular supporting actor for three months on a local soap opera in Tulsa, Sadie's Soap Suds, for which he received an award for the best supporting role performance. Last year, as president of PZ Production, he was elected Vice President of the Oklahoma Territory Film Council.
At present, Zhmutski is working In collaboration with Brett Flynn of Golden Wing Films, and Adam Ropp of Lucky Boy Pro.
Peter has moderated and served on Bare Bone's Movie-Biz panels at both the International and Script-2-Screen Film Festivals on a variety of topics, including The Art & Business of Moviemaking, Movie Music, How to Use Chroma Key Blue & Green Screen Illusions. Last year, he conducted a panel on Music for Film at the Real to Real event in Oklahoma City.
