Kari's most recent work is as writer/director on her theatrical feature, a drama The Stone Angel based on the novel by Margaret Laurence starring Ellen Burstyn, Kevin Zegers, Ellen Page, Dylan Baker. Kari's early work as one of Canada's A list commercial and Music Video directors, gives her a distinct style and approach. Kari was named as one of Hollywood Reporter's 10 Directors to Watch in 2001. Her first efforts as writer director was a contemporary dramatic thriller Liberty Stands Still starring Wesley Snipes, Linda Fiorentino and Oliver Platt (Lionsgate) premiered at the Palm Springs Film Festival 2002 and went on to win numerous awards. The Size of Watermelons, an irreverent comedy, marked Skogland's feature film producer/ directorial debut - Ione Skye/Paul Rudd/Donal Logue. Premiered in competition at The Slamdance International Festival (Donal Logue won Best Actor) and went on to screen at festivals around the globe. Her second film Men With Guns, premiered at the Toronto Int. Film Festival screened at the Montreal IFF and The Rotterdam IFF. Kari recently won the DGC Best Director for her work on Terminal City.
