Despite sharing its title with the film Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! (1978), this cartoon series actually shares the plot and characters of its sequel, Return of the Killer Tomatoes! (1988). This show was one of the earliest animated series to use computer animation extensively. The second season used primarily cel drawn images manipulated and animated by computer. In addition, CGI generated objects, such as airplanes, were also used.
