After finding the body, Joe is sitting on a bucket at the dockside, a famous pose of that Dundonian cartoon rascal Oor Wullie, whose own father used to work on the docks. Ewan McGregor's nude scenes were originally going to be cut from the U.S. release, but after McGregor objected, the full-frontal nude scenes were put back in. This was the first film which Mcgregor did not take his family along for the shoot.
