The events of this game are no longer considered part of the Street Fighter canon. The characters of Evil Ryu and Karin were originally from a Japanese Street Fighter Manga called Sakura Ganbare by Masahiko Nakahira. Akuma does not wear sandals in this game series, even though he wears them before and after (ie in Super SFII and in SFIII).
