Picard attempts to assist Spock in his efforts to determine the sincerity behind the Unification efforts of the Romulans, especially one high-ranking official, while Spock deals with his recently-deceased father's thoughts and feelings inside Picard as a result from a previous mind meld with Jean Luc.
