Michael Caine, who plays Cliff Brumby in this film, played Jack Carter in the original Get Carter (1971).
When Doreen asks Carter why he went away for so long, Carter responds, "That's a long story." Doreen replies, "It's a long ride back." These lines were also spoken in Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) when John Rambo is speaking with his Vietnamese insider.
Throughout the course of the film, Jack Carter (Sylvester Stallone) only fires one bullet from his gun.
Gloria Carter:
What did you expect, to come in here and fix everything? You don't fix things, Jack. You break things.
Con McCarty:
Say, Jack, when I said, "Take care of the business or the business will take care of you," did we have a bad connection on the cell, or maybe you weren't listening...
Doreen Carter:
Have you ever been to prison?
[Jack doesn't respond]
Doreen Carter:
For how long?
Jack Carter:
How about this weather?
Jack Carter:
My name is Jack Carter, and you don't want to know me.
Jack Carter:
You should finish what you start.
Cyrus Paice:
Yeah, shit fix your tie there.
Jack Carter:
Nobody likes the list guy.
Cyrus Paice:
You're gonna end up like a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.
Jeremy Kinnear:
Damn right that I'm freaking out. I'm a fucking Harvard graduate, I do not do porn!
Jack Carter:
You drink coffee?
Doreen Carter:
Yeah... I smoke too.
Jack Carter:
You sure that's something to brag about?
Doreen Carter:
You smoke.
Jack Carter:
I quit... recently.
Doreen Carter:
When?
Jack Carter:
Now. Do you mind?
Doreen Carter:
You are so freaky!
Jack Carter:
Oh, well, we're all a little freaky, Doreen. It's the straight ones you've got to worry about.
Jeremy Kinnear:
You know why I like golf, Mr. Carter? 'Cause the ball just keeps going away. The only sport where you hit that little suck and it doesn't come back at you. I'm gonna wanna go after it and get it and when I get to it... I just knock it away again. You see what I'm saying, Mr. Carter? Once I get rid of it, I never wanna see it again.
Con McCarty:
[to Jack Carter on the phone] Oh, you simple bitch, I'm covering your ass. Do you hear me? I'm covering your ass.
Jack Carter:
You better cover your own ass.
Jeremy Kinnear:
Please slow down, you gonna kill us.
Jack Carter:
That's the point, Jeremy.
Jeremy Kinnear:
OK. OK, you want money? You want money, just name your price. I have more money than God.
Jack Carter:
You need a drink.
[Jack Carter comes on the golf field, steps on the ball and rolls it into hole]
Jack Carter:
Nice stroke.
Golfer:
Who do fuck are you?
Jack Carter:
Tiger Woods.
Eddie:
Jack, don't kill me, man.
Jack Carter:
You killed yourself.
[Jack Carter drops him off the balcony]
[Jack Carter comes with Geraldine in Jeremy Kinnear's office and sees his bodyguard Jimmy]
Jeremy Kinnear:
Oh, don't worry about Jimmy. He's... He's more here for decoration.
Jack Carter:
So, what's your name?
Jeremy Kinnear:
Jeremy Kinnear. Maybe you read about me in Forbes.
Jack Carter:
No, I don't do that, Jeremy. So, what do you telling me, you're bucks up?
Jack Carter:
Come on, let me see your eyes.
Cyrus Paice:
Whatever turns you on.
[takes his sun glasses off]
Cyrus Paice:
Still pretty?
Jack Carter:
Yeah. Like cat-piss in the snow.
Thorpey:
Here. Take this, it's free. Alaska Airlines, first class.
[Thorpey gives Jack Carter an airplane ticket]
Jack Carter:
Who am I suppose to thank for that?
Thorpey:
Just make sure you get on that plane. Tonight!
[Jack Carter throws the ticket away]
Jack Carter:
[laughing] Whatever they pay, it ain't gonna be enough.
Jack Carter:
Hey, Brumby.
Cliff Brumby:
I'm not turning around.
Jack Carter:
Suit your self.
[shoots him in the back]
Continuity: Carter's Cadillac has a headlight out after the big chase scene with the boys from Vegas. But when Carter pulls up to the nightclub both headlights work.
Continuity: A chase scene begins during a heavy downpour. In the next shot it stops raining and the car is completely dry.
Factual errors: When Carter cuts off cellular phone link with Las Vegas there is a distinct cut-off tone. When two cellular phones are connected, there is no dial tone at any time.
Continuity: During the chase, Carter pushes sideways a towed car with his Cadillac. Carter's car escapes undamaged.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: The Volvo 240 makes the sound of an American muscle car with a V8 engine.
Continuity: In the chase between the Cadillac STS and the Jaguar, a Datsun pickup (with covered bed) is hit at an intersection. Later on, the two chase cars pass the same pickup again (which is now undamaged). The same pickup is also used as a prop in the night chase between the Volvo and the old Cadillac.
Continuity: During the fight in the elevator, Carter's suit is ripped at the back. Later the suit is intact again.
