Chef Ken Kostick originally conceived "What's for Dinner?" as a behind-the-scenes-of-a-TV-show sitcom similar to "Home Improvement" (1991) and "The Larry Sanders Show" (1992). The concept was adjusted until it became a straight cooking show with comedy overtones.
