Initially Director-Producer Kamal Hassan had signed Mohan Gokhale for the role of Shriram Abhyankar, but while staying in Chennai, India, in a hotel, Gokhale died of a heart attack. First Indian movie to feature a soundtrack performed by a full fledged symphony orchestra. The soundtrack was performed by Laslo Kovaks of Budapest Symphonic Orchestra, Hungary.
