A voyeuristic dwarf rescues a girl after witnessing her suicide attempt off a nearby bridge. Upon returning her to his castle the little man resuscitates her with a loving kiss and bequeaths her with a string of pearls. What ostensibly is a budding romance concludes in an allegorical and memorable tragedy.
