Matthew Hyson was born on August 13, 1970 in Rhode Island. He grew up cheering for wrestlers like Roddy Piper and dreamed of being like them. As an adult he attended Skidmore College where he majored in English. He became a third grade teacher, but never stopped dreaming about becoming a wrestling superstar. He entered the ECW in 1996.
