Pickering got his first acting role at age 8 appearing in Oliver Twist as the Artful Dodger in his community playhouse. The 13-year-old actor has since appeared in numerous productions with the Saint Mary's Youth Theatre in Garforth, including Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story and Les Miserables.
