Pistilli's most notable stage successes were roles in The Threepenny Opera, St. Joan of the Stockyards and a 1972 production, Lulu. In 1991 he reprised his role in Lulu in the first professional collaboration with actress-singer Milva, his partner in previous plays as well as in a four-year offstage relationship.
