Lucas York Black was born to Larry and Jan Black on November 29, 1982 in Decatur, Alabama. Without any formal acting lessons, Lucas made his film debut with a small part in the Kevin Costner film The War (1994) at the age of 11. The small role helped him land his next job in the series "American Gothic" (1995).
