Joe Michael Burke was born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He received a scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, where he also became a NCAA National Qualifier in Wrestling. Was discovered in Tempe Arizona by a producer from FOX television and put in a TV pilot. He then moved to Los Angeles while keeping a full-time job as an Advertising Art Director.
