Mini Biography
Born in South Africa to a Scots father and Afrikaans mother, British actor Jay Rodan grew up in the UK and Canada, where he attended high school in Vancouver. He became hooked on acting when at sixteen he joined the Vancouver Youth Theatre as a way to stay out of trouble. After high school a string of odd jobs followed including circus ride operator, construction worker, and removal man. Following South Africa's historic election he traveled and worked there as a performing artist. He returned to London where he initially busked in Covent Garden and outside Shakespeare's Globe to make ends meet. Rodan's break came when he was cast starring opposite Samuel L. Jackson in Kasi Lemmons New York-set The Caveman's Valentine (2001). He has since gone on to work with Bernardo Bertolucci, Franco Zeffirelli, and Uli Edel among others. He has starred opposite Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, and Jeremy Irons, all of whom he lists as influences. Rodan has also written a screenplay entitled 'Beyond Arcadia' which is in development.
