Eugen Ionescu was born in 1909 in Slatina, Romania, son of a lawyer, Eugen Ionescu Sr., licenced in Paris, and a French lady Therese Zicard from Paris. In 1913 they move to France, but in 1924 when his parents divorced, he returns with his father to Romania. He studies in Craiova and Bucharest and in 1929 attend University of Bucharest to study Literature and Philosophy.
