Mini Biography
Erik Weiner was born and raised in San Francisco. Erik graduated from the Experimental Theatre Wing at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he received the Outstanding Achievement Award and the first ever Tisch Award. He, along with five great friends, created and starred in "The Bomb-itty of Errors", a slammin' add-rap-tation of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors, blending hip-hop and Shakespeare. The show has been performed in New York (Off-Broadway), London (West End), Chicago, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin, Florida, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and continues to play around the world. The "Bomb-itty of Errors" was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and Outer Critic Circle Award and won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Show at the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival as well as the prestigious Jefferson Award in Chicago. Erik, again with the Bomb-itty crew, created and starred in the MTV series, "Scratch & Burn", a hip-hop sketch comedy show. Erik made his feature film debut in the 20th Century Fox romantic comedy, "Brown Sugar". The film stars Taye Diggs, Mos Def & Queen Latifah. Erik most recently was a series regular on HBO's "Unscripted" directed by George Clooney and executive produced by George Clooney and Steve Soderbergh. His new musical comedy, "Nerds", written with collaborator Jordan Allen-Dutton and music composed by Hal Goldberg, world premiered at the Philadelphia Theatre Company in January 2007. Erik is a writer on "Robot Chicken", Seth Green and Matt Seinreich's show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. He is currently re-envisioning the classic cartoon show Underdog as well as writing and producing projects for film, tv, and new media content.
