Egbert Jan was born in Groningen in 1981. Despite his dyslexia, he managed to get his diploma at higher general secondary school (English-Dutch translation). He went to the Theatre School in Groningen for four years. When he was 18 years, he made his debut in Uitgesloten, a TV production about a boy who is excluded from the Jehovah's Witness' parish.
