Daniel Fathers was born in London, UK to British actress Tessa Shaw and scenic designer, George Fathers. He trained briefly as a dancer under Christopher Gable at the Central School of Dance, as well as received voice lessons from Robert Palmer at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) in London, UK.Daniel was a member of the 2003/04 cast of Mamma Mia! as lead understudy for the roles of Bill Austin and Harry Bright, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto.
