Born in New Zealand, from a noted theatrical family. After 5 years as professional actress, she went to London and obtained a fine arts degree at Goldsmith College. Encouraged by sister, Jane, to make films, she completed an MA in film at the Royal College of Art. First short _The Audition_, featuring her sister and mother, won a BBC Student Drama Prize in 1989. This was followed by a second short, _Broken Skin_, which was In Competition at the Cannes. By: L.H. Wong
